Thank you for choosing Rain Bird Pumps

Rain Bird’s pump specification tool will walk you through the minimum required information necessary to create a site-specific pump for your next retrofit or new design. Once completed, the pumps team will begin crafting your custom specification package.

Our pump experts are here to help – If you need help with an existing quote or if you do not know the answers to one or more of the questions listed below, simply advance to step 3 and ensure you fill out the required contact information (for existing customers enter the quote number in the appropriate field). Someone from our pumps group will reach out within 48 hours.

What is the Water Source?

Pressure Boost: Typical for municipal supply
Flooded Suction: Typical for above ground water
Suction Lift: Typical for open bodies of water
Wet Well w/Turbine (or submersible): Typical for open bodies of water equipped with wet well.
In Pressure Boost applications the pump is fed from a pressurized line such as a city water main. As the pump produces the required flow, it“boosts”the pressure in the line.

In Flooded Suction applications the pump is fed from a vented tank with a water level above the pump.

In Suction Lift applications the pump draws water up from a tank or natural source where the water level is below the pump. This requires special considerations to ensure the pump remains primed and capable of operating.

In Wet Well applications a vertical turbine pump draws water up through an integral column to the system piping. This creates a reliable flooded suction system that elimi- nates the problems associated with suction lifts exceeding 15 feet.

Hydraulic Requirements
Consider max flow if operating stations simultaneously
if less than 35% of max flow, a two pump system may be required
at P.O.C., based on critical analysis of irrigation zones
New Design: Determined by critical analysis
Retrofit: Determined by pressure test at point of connection while operating highest flow station(s).
measured from minimum tank level to centerline of pump suction
measured from minimum source water level to centerline of pump suction
measured from water inlet to pump suction
be specific-provide diameter or length and width
measured from top of slab to bottom of well
measured from top of slab to minimum water level
requires flow added to design flow for proper cleaning
protects stations from low water levels in suction lift apps
