What are the basics of designing a drip system for high impact commercial sites?

Drip SystemWhen you are designing a drip system for a median, parkway, or sloped area, use components that reduce maintenance and deliver water right to the plant’s roots zone. We recommend several drip components that will help you design a drip system with these criteria as the top priorities.

Point Source Emitters
Use point source emitters and bubblers such as the XBT emitter, 1400 Series bubbler, or pressure compensating PCT low-flow bubbler to deliver water directly to the plants' roots. The results are healthier plants, elimination of overspray, and minimal evaporation and erosion.

Tubing & Fittings
Using SPX-Flex tubing with PVC laterals is the best choice for a long-lasting system. The flexible, thick-walled SPX tubing is texturized, making it easy to work with it, and Spiral Barb fittings are recommended for the aggressive barb and extended length, which secures the tubing to prevent blowouts.

Valves, Pressure Regulation and Filters
For commercial sites with most demanding conditions, such as reclaimed or non-potable water, high pressure, or wide temperature swings, we recommend the PEB, PESB or PESB-R Series valve or EFB-CP Series brass valve. Each of these valves has features that enable reliable performance even with dirty or harsh water.

The LCRBY Series large capacity y-filter is the best filter choice. The large capacity filter reduces maintenance by providing more surface area to reduce clogging. The screen helps filter out larger particles and disc filter reduces algae. Finally, an Inline Pressure Regulator is recommended to reduce and regulate water pressure for consistent performance.

Root Watering Series (RWS)
Trees provide shade and cooling effects that will benefit your customer for decades. That’s why we recommend using the RWS system to provide the deep-root watering that is proven to develop a health root ball.
