Yes. The ESP-BAT-BT carries an IP68 waterproof rating, providing total protection against dust, dirt, and water ingress—even if the valve box floods.

The ESP-BAT-BT works with Rain Bird DV, DVF, ASVF, PGA, PEB, PESB, EFB-CP, BPE, and BPES series valves when used with the TBOSPSOL DC latching solenoid.

HV valves manufactured on or after June 30, 2025 are also compatible with the TBOSPSOL. The HV valve bonnet was updated on this date to accept Rain Bird universal solenoids, including the TBOSPSOL.

HV valves manufactured before June 30, 2025 are not compatible with the ESP-BAT-BT.

Yes. ESP-BAT-BT was designed for use with Rain Bird TBOSPSOL 9V DC-latching solenoids but is intended to be compatible with most competitive 9V DC-latching solenoids.

Yes. The ESP-BAT-BT can operate competitive valves using a compatible 9V DC-latching solenoid. Or install a Rain Bird TBOSPSOL 9V DC-latching solenoid using the appropriate adapter.

Rain Bird offers a black adapter for select plastic valves from Irritrol, Hardie/Richdel, and Buckner, and a brown adapter for select Champion and Superior brass valves.

The ESP-BAT-BT is available in 1, 2, 4, and 6 station models, all with a dedicated master valve/pump output.

No. ESP-BAT-BT communicates directly with your mobile device using Bluetooth, so an internet or Wi-Fi connection is not required to communicate with the controller when you are on site.

You can also view and make changes in the Rain Bird 2.0 App while away from the controller. Those changes are saved in the app and can be synchronized to the controller when you or another team member returns within Bluetooth range.

Yes. The Rain Bird 2.0 App includes an Offline Mode that lets you edit, track, and save controller changes from anywhere. When you return to the site and are within Bluetooth range, changes synchronize automatically.

The ESP-BAT-BT uses Bluetooth Low Energy technology. Typical Bluetooth range varies by environment. Ranges can vary from 30 to 60 ft. Depth of installation in the valve box and/or obstacles near the installation can impact range.

Yes. The Controller Sharing feature in the Rain Bird 2.0 App allows you to share secure access to any controller with team members, enabling collaborative site management.

The ESP-BAT-BT retains all programming during battery replacement—there is no loss of your irrigation schedule or settings.

Yes. The ESP-BAT-BT has a direct shutoff sensor connection that supports compatible contact sensors, including third-party rain, soil, or other shutoff sensors. Rain Bird offers the RSD-BEx rain shutoff device for this connection. Sensor shutoff can be configured globally or by individual station.
