The Automation Engineer will utilize their skills in electrical, computer, mechanical and robotics engineering to improve our manufacturing processes. In addition, you will have responsibility to lead cross departmental and organizational teams to complete new equipment installations, software alterations/updates, engineering safety improvements and implement new technology advancements.   

Responsibilities
  • Safety engineering, safety investigations, accident investigations and safety enforcement.
  • Manage, design, and develop automated manufacturing processes ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, and output.
  • Identify and justify opportunities to apply industry best practices regarding automation, error proofing, testing methodologies, and new product development.
  • Ability to install, enhance and troubleshoot robotics/electro-mechanical equipment and programing.
  • Programming of PLC’s (Siemens, Allen Bradley), test digital platforms, circuit analysis, and signal analysis is required.
  • Ability to liaise with our strategic business units on implementing new products.
  • Provide technical support of existing production lines focusing on improvements to quality and rate.
  • Work with other plant functional groups including maintenance, production, product engineering, materials, and quality to ensure production line uptime and product quality.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • S. Degree in Engineering or automation technology discipline
  • 5+ years of hands-on automation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, general statistics and Lean Six Sigma, data analysis and process improvement techniques
  • Experience and an understanding of viewing drive parameters, robotic controls, and general automation practices to improve the manufacturing processes and improve failure modes.
  • Relevant experience with PLC controlled automation, robotics and diagnostic troubleshooting in a continuous process or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of automated vision inspection systems.
  • Well organized, enthusiastic, strong work ethic, self-motivated.
  • Ability to work with other departments and must possess a ‘hands-on’ approach to problem solving.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an Automation Engineer
  • Preferably an Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Experience with analog electronics (amplifiers, analog signal, filters), robotics (troubleshooting and programming), controls components and other automated equipment
  • Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and modifying motor controls including motor starters, variable frequency drives and DC drives.
  • Industrial electrical hands-on experience and troubleshooting
  • Experience identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, programming, and designing HMI and control network components.
