RAIN BIRD® GIVES ITS CUSTOMERS
TWO NEW PUMP STATION OPTIONS
TUCSON, Ariz. (January 31, 2008) –Now, with the introduction of two new classes of variable frequency drive (VFD) pump stations from Rain Bird, golf course architects, developers and superintendents who insist on using the world’s only dynamically-adaptable irrigation system have even more flexibility when choosing a pump station to match their course’s unique needs.
“The addition of the new Water Feature and Intermediate Flow pump station classes allows Rain Bird to better serve all types of golf courses,” said Rob Kerrigan, pump station product manager for Rain Bird. “Our complete pump station portfolio sets new standards of durability, convenience, customization and performance, while also cutting energy costs and minimizing overall system wear.”
Available in flows up to 10,000 gallons per minute (GPM) (2,270m3/h), Rain Bird’s new Water Feature Pump Stations allow operators to customize a golf course water feature’s appearance. These pumps also include a handy energy-saving “night run” mode that keeps water from becoming stagnant even when the water feature isn’t running at full capacity.
Another class of new additions, the Intermediate Flow Pump Stations, consists of single horizontal end suction pump stations designed to boost pressure on golf courses with elevation changes or lake transfer needs. These particular pumps can also serve as the main irrigation pump station for smaller courses that have been configured for flooded suction or suction lift. Intermediate Flow Pump Stations come with flow rates up to 750 GPM at 120 PSI (170m3/h @ 827kPa). Higher flow rates are available at pressures less than 120PSI (827kPa).
The two original classes of pump stations in Rain Bird’s product line include Main Irrigation Pump Stations and Enclosed Low Flow Pump Stations. Available with flows of up to 10,000 GPM (2,270m3/h), Main Irrigation Pump Stations are customizable units that serve as the main pumping solution for golf courses. Enclosed Low Flow Pump Stations are horizontal end suction or vertical multi-stage pump stations available in flows of up to 300 GPM (68m3/h). These stations boost water pressure on golf courses with elevation changes or lake transfer requirements while utilizing lower flow rates.
All Rain Bird golf pump stations include a high-tech, full-color or backlit monochrome touch screen operator panel for the most user-friendly experience in the industry. The stations also include durable powder coating for the highly effective protection against corrosion. And, the most powerful feature of these stations is how they work together with the rest of Rain Bird’s exclusive “Reservoir to Rotor” systems – each has the ability to communicate in real time with Rain Bird’s central control software, creating the world’s only dynamically-adaptable irrigation system.
