RAIN BIRD® ANNOUNCES NEW MI SERIES MOBILE CONTROLLERS
TUCSON, Ariz., (Jan. 31, 2008) - Today, Rain Bird Corporation announced it is making it possible for golf course superintendents to experience levels of productivity, convenience and freedom that were previously out of reach. Thanks to the all-new Rain Bird® MI Series Mobile Controller, monitoring and controlling golf irrigation systems can be done quickly and efficiently from just about anywhere.
Unlike radio-based remote controls, the MI Series Mobile Controller’s range of usefulness is not limited by radio frequencies licensed for use only on the golf course. Instead, the revolutionary MI Series Mobile Controller utilizes the wide-ranging availability of the Internet over cellular networks, allowing superintendents to improve their team’s productivity, enrich job satisfaction and increase the freedom with which they control and monitor their irrigation systems.
With fixed-location central control systems alone, superintendents and their staff often find themselves making frequent trips to the course. The MI Series Mobile Controller can be used from virtually anywhere superintendents or their staff may wish to monitor or control their irrigation systems, making these multiple trips a thing of the past. Superintendents will be able to activate sprinklers and programs, review site status information, and directly edit the central control sprinkler and program data—giving them priceless peace of mind while away from the irrigation site. According to Pat Gentile of the Patty Jewett Golf Course in Colorado Springs, the MI Series Mobile Controller has made a truly positive impact on his day-to-day routine.
“The MI Series Controller frees me up to do the things I want to do when I’m away from the course,” said Gentile. “I don’t need to rush to the course or to my home computer if I want to monitor the central control due to weather conditions or if I’ve forgotten to set up the greens for an extra shot of water because we just fertilized. It’s great technology!”
The MI Series Mobile Controller is simple to use for anyone familiar with an Internet browser. First, the controller’s software is installed on a Rain Bird irrigation central control computer. The computer is then connected to the Internet and configured to present information as Web pages to a remote Web browser. Once connected, up to fifteen users are able to simultaneously perform remote options, with all activity logged for convenient review.
“Rain Bird‘s MI Series Mobile Controller is the first of its kind to offer users the ability to control and monitor their Rain Bird central control system from virtually anywhere in the world,” said David Behrmann, marketing management for Rain Bird’s Golf Division. ”This product demonstrates Rain Bird’s ongoing commitment to manufacture innovative, leading-edge products that truly provide value to the customer.”
