RAIN BIRD® RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE IN ENGINEERING OF MPR ROTOR NOZZLES
GLENDORA, Calif. (September 2004) – The American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) recently recognized Rain Bird® for its engineering excellence with a prestigious AE50 Award. Each year ASAE pays tribute to the top 50 products introduced for agricultural, food, biological and related systems. Rain Bird received the award for its development of the 5000/5000 Plus MPR nozzles, introduced in 2003. The irrigation industry’s leading equipment manufacturer was honored in August at the ASAE annual conference in Ottawa, Canada.
“We are honored to be among the AE50 award winners,” said Miguel Padilla, Rain Bird product manager. “This award highlights our engineering excellence and signifies that we are fulfilling our corporate commitment to help advance water conservation solutions in the irrigation industry.”
Developed by Rain Bird’s Contractor Division for use on 5000/5000 Plus Rotors, the award-winning MPR (Matched Precipitation Rate) nozzles provide specifiers and contractors with a breakthrough in adjustment capability, leading to more efficient use of water. The MPR nozzles’ design eliminates the adjustability limits of MPR nozzles with fixed arc patterns, enabling application to be custom-tailored to deliver matched precipitation rates within and between radii from 25 to 35 feet. This eliminates the risks of over or under watering and, with Rain Bird’s exclusive Rain Curtain™ Technology, helps reduce both run-off and erosion.
MPR nozzle models are 5000-MPR-25, 5000-MPR-30 and 5000-MPR-35, each designed with quarter, third, half and full circle nozzles.
The rotor engineering team of Rain Bird’s Contractor Division responsible for the design and development of the MPR nozzles is comprised of: Chris Gregory, the lead engineer, and Brad Helzer, Brian Hunnicutt, Jonathan Yeh, Wilson Torres, John Alarcon and Bill Whipple.
