FOR 2007 AWARD NOMINATIONS

Leadership, Innovation And Commitment Has Led To Improved
Landscape Water Conservation
AZUSA, CA (June 4, 2007) -
Rain Bird Corporation, the leading manufacturer and provider
of irrigation products and services, announced the creation
of The Intelligent Use of Water Award to bring greater recognition
to outstanding contributions by individuals and/or organizations
towards the advancement of landscape water conservation.
Emanating from the same ideals that provide the basis for
Rain Bird’s core
commitment to The Intelligent Use of Water, the 2007 Intelligent
Use of Water Award seeks to bring about a greater knowledge
and awareness of the need for water conservation by honoring
those persons or organizations whose innovation, leadership,
ingenuity and overall commitment to improved landscape water
efficiency has raised the standard for outdoor water conservation. The
recipient of the 2007 award will be presented with $10,000
in acknowledgment of their contributions toward protecting
Earth’s most precious resource.
Open to all persons and organizations that meet the award
criteria, both consumers and professionals (industry and
non-industry) are encouraged to submit their nominations
for the 2007 Intelligent Use of Water Award by filling out
a nomination form at www.rainbird.com/awards. Nominations
for the 2007 Intelligent Use of Water Award will close on
September 1, 2007, and an independent panel of experts will
select the winner based on their demonstrated leadership,
innovation and implementation of water-efficient measures.
The winner of Rain Bird’s 2007 Intelligent Use of Water
Award will be presented with $10,000 toward their continuing
landscape water conservation efforts, a trip to the 2008
Tournament of Roses Parade and the opportunity to present
their award-winning water conservation case study as a featured
panelist during Rain Bird’s year-end Intelligent Use
of Water Summit held in Pasadena, Calif. Nominees that are
unable to accept cash prizes may choose to have the prize
money donated to a charitable organization in their name.
“As more and more demand is placed on the world’s
supply of usable water, the need has never been greater for
more efficient irrigation, better landscape designs, and
increased knowledge as it relates to reducing landscape water
waste,” said Dave Johnson, Rain Bird's Director of
Corporate Marketing. “Water use in parks,
public places, golf courses and landscapes is under increased
scrutiny, leaving it to professionals, businesses and everyday
consumers to find and implement practical solutions that
provide both economic and environmental benefits. By recognizing
these achievements, we aim to inspire others to do the same."
Rain Bird’s Intelligent Use of Water Award is the
most recent example in the company's history of creating
programs and initiatives to boost awareness of water conservation.
Rain Bird devotes significant resources to its Intelligent
Use of Water public initiatives, which include a series of
white papers; public service announcements; membership on
the EPA’s Alliance for Water Efficiency and the EPA’s
WaterSense steering committee; bi-annual Intelligent Use
of Water Summits, partnerships with non-profit organizations;
development and support of elementary and middle school curriculums;
and participation in the Tournament of Roses Parade®,
an annual worldwide stage to communicate the need for water
conservation.
